EARTH TURTLE OCEANIA/CACHE HOPPER SALE DATE/TIME

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Good Evening all.  I am just doing a copy and paste of the email/newsletter I sent out. I just wanted to get the information posted on the blog.

Hello Everyone!

I will keep this email short. The 2nd minting of the Earth Turtle Oceania coins; Bora Bora, Fiji Islands, Maui and Australia will be available for sale on September 1st (tuesday) at 4:30 pm Montana time (MST) which is also the same as Denver, Colorado. There is a tsun version and additional Tahiti coins but those will be coming with me to GCF. The tsun version will not be for sale at GCF, only for trade.

The Cache Hoppers will also be available for sale; Golden Poison Dart, Blue Poison Dart and the Albino. These were supposed to go up for sale last time but due to web site issues, I could not list them in time.

The webstore has some new programming and we are hoping that this is the final fix. The programmers made some adjustments to the real-time cart system and we’re hoping that this will allow the webstore to stay available. This is our last effort to fix this cart system. If the store crashes, I will be changing shopping carts or looking into a different option on how sales will work.

If the site crashes during this sale and is not up and running with a half hour of crashing. Please consider the sale closed. I will then list the coins unannounced - meaning after the website is back up and running, I will put the coins up for sale at a different date and time only known to me. I will then send out emails to everyone letting you know the coins are up for sale. This will allow the coins to be sold and it will not overload the system. After 24 hours, if there are still coins available, I will announce the sale on the Groundspeak Forums.

Time conversions:
Eastern: 6:30 pm US, Central 5:30 pm US, Pacific 3:30 pm US
World Conversions:  Austrailia, Tasmania September 2rd, 8:30 am * Lisbon, Portugal September 1st, 11:30 pm * London, England September 1st, 11:30 pm * Zurich, Switzerland September 2nd, 12:30 am.

If you have any questions, please send me an email by some time tomorrow. I work during the day and on the day of the sale, I will not be able to answer your questions after I come home. This information will also be posted on my blog and on the Groundspeak Forums.
Thanks! tsun :)

Cache Hopper Sale Date and Time

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Hey everyone! The second minting of Cache Hoppers has arrived and these have the gritty texture underneath unlike the first round.

We have the Golden Poison Dart Cache Hopper, The Blue Poison Dart Cache Hopper, The Albino and the Mythical Nutella Cache Hoppers. The Poison Dart and Albino versions were named after actual species. I did alittle write up on the Groundspeak forums about each of the frogs, make sure you go read about them if you haven’t already.

This will be either the last sale with the Magento shopping cart or the 1st of many that will work properly. We had a telephone conference a week or so ago and discussed what we thought could be a potential fix to having a real-time cart. I won’t get into all the specifics but we have a prgrammer who is suppose to working on a new code for the Magento cart and hopefully this takes care of the “crashing” issues. If not than I will have to go to a whole new shopping cart system that will be much like what everyone else is using and it will have it’s own issues but site crashing won’t be one of them.

The sale date/time: August 20th, 4:30 pm Montana time (Mountain Standard Time) US.

Eastern: 6:30 pm US, Central 5:30 pm US, Pacific 3:30 pm US

World Conversions:  Austrailia, Tasmania August 21, 8:30 am * Lisbon, Portugal August 20th, 11:30 pm * London, England August 20th, 11:30 pm * Zurich, Switzerland August 21, 12:30 am.

If you have any questions, please email me at tsunrisebey@gmail.com and Cache Hoppers if they are a sell out will be reminted.

CACHE HOPPER GEOCOIN SALE

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Ok, the coins are loaded on the store and now we wait! The coins will say “Sold Out” until the sale starts at which time I will manually have to go into the admin panel and change everything to available. When the “Sold Out” disappears it means the coins have gone up for sale. It will probably take me a couple minutes to get through each coin since I am unable to make them available all at the same time.

If a version of the coin “sells out” than the “Sold Out” will appear again. I have no idea how this sale will go and I have limited each version to 3 of each. In the event of a sell out, I’ll put in an order for a remint on some different and maybe a couple of the same colors/metals. I probably won’t send out a new newsletter but I will keep this blog updated and I will post to the Groundspeak Forums once the coins are listed for sale. This should make it less competitive.

Please remember the 2nd minting will have the new texture underneath the translucent. This 1st minting will be the only one without the textured background.

Ok, keeping my fingers crossed that this sale will be successful on the store!

Cache Hopper Geocoin Sale Date/Time

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

The Cache Hopper Geocoins will be available for purchase on July 16th, 2009 at 4:00 pm Montana time. Please remember there is a time clock on the Store.

Time conversions: Eastern time: 6:00 pm, Central 5:00 pm, Mountain 4:00 pm, Pacific 3:00 pm. If you are from outside of North America, please email me which country you live in and I will let you know what time/date the sale will be in your country.

As mentioned before, this is not being posted on the Groundspeak forums, I’m trying to keep it limited in notification to the blog/newsletter so we can attempt a successful sale on the new webstore.

In the event of a sell-out, please remember the design will be reminted but in some different color combinations for the next round. I will also bring some of these with me to GCF.

The price will be $7. 75  per coin.  They are trackable with a unique icon. 2-1/4″ toe to toe and 1-1/4″ wide, 2mm thick. They have a small hole so you can use these for a number of purposes. I have made one a necklace pendant that I have been wearing. These have been priced to make them affordable and to stimulate coin releases into the wild!

Once the intial sale is over, I will open a thread on GC for those who need to discuss the coin or get information easily accessible to and from others. I’ll work on getting a newsletter out tonight.

Thanks, tsun :)

Cache Hopper Geocoins are Here!

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Guess what little amphibians made it across the big pond? Yes, the sweet Cache Hoppers! I’m very happy with the way these turned out.  It’s the toes that I find so adorable :)

There are 11 versions total on the first minting and what I mean by that is; I did 5 different colors but they are done in 2 to 3 metals for each color. So it gives you a chance to pick and choose your favorite! I’m going to post a picture of the 5 color versions so you get an idea of what they look like (front only for the moment).

They measure 2 -1/4″ long  and 1-1/2″ at their widest point. They are only 2 mm thick so they are a bit light but I wasn’t going for heavy on these, this is more for a releasable coin into the wild although I have no doubt many will end up in your collections. It’s a very basic design with the exception of being shaped and utterly adorable. There is a small hole to put an attachment tag on your coin or if you’re like me, I’m going to put a jump ring on it and put it on a necklace!

For those of you who watch my blog, I’m going to give away 3 coins tonight but you have to check in here for the contest! You can pick out the Cache Hopper you would like! Stay Tuned for details.

Cache Hopper and Anasazi Geocoin Update

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Hello everyone!

I hope that those of you in the US had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. I spent mine staining my deck and doing  yard work. It was a beautiful weekend here in Helena. On the evening of the 4th, I lit my tiki torches that are attached to my deck and I watched the entire Helena Valley light up with fireworks. I’m not sure what the laws are in other states but here in Montana, the fireworks stands open about a week before the holiday and everyone seems to load up on roman candles and other fancy fireworks. I went to bed at midnight and people were still lighting off fireworks.

I haven’t posted any geocaching activities because my Etrex Legend GPSr was stolen out of my truck not long after I did the Ophir Cave geocache. To make a long story short, I now have a new GPS (60Csx) but now I just need the time to learn how it works and get out there and test it :)

On the coin front; the Cache Hopper geocoins should be shipping some time tomorrow. I have no idea what they look like but I’m hoping they turned out nice. I can’t believe I ordered 330 coins and didn’t order samples. I just approved the artwork and told the mint what I wanted color wise. Kinda stupid now that I think about it, lol. I wouldn’t normally do that but considering they are very similar to the Rainforest Jewel coins, I figured they would be just fine. Once they arrive, I will get some pictures up on the blog for you. I’ll also decide on a date/time for the sale.

Speaking of sale, I’m going to notify the newsletter subscribers first and I won’t be posting the sale on the GC forums until after the initial sale starts. After a lengthy waiting period, my crew at BigSky Web Design feels the site is ready to handle a sale. Numerous stress tests have been done and alot of calling and investigating the possibilities of why the site fails during a sale have been done.  I can tell you that the sale will be done on a week day and at 4:00 pm Montana time. The reason for this will be to allow the ‘techies’ to watch the server for any errors or problems should they arise. So I’m trying to keep this sale a bit low key as much as possible.

The Anasazi geocoin is in the process of having samples made and is expected to ship around the middle of July. I have asked for sample photos also so hopefully by the end of the week I can get a photo of that coin posted here.

This week I will be working harder on 3 additional designs that are currently in different stages of mint artwork. This past week I took a break from tweaking mint artwork but October is closing in quickly and I have alot of coin work to get done before Geocoinfest!

Ok, that’s it for geocoin news and check back this week for some photos!

Take care ~ tsun
